8th station Via Dolorosa

The Via Dolorosa or the “Way of Sorrows” is the traditional route Jesus walks on his way to his crucifixion. The Via Dolorosa has 14 traditional stations honoring the events that took place as Christ made his Golgotha to be crucified.  Every Friday afternoon hundreds of Christian pilgrims join a procession and make their way along the 14 stations of the cross ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.  Eighths Station – Jesus Speaks to the women of Jerusalem: Continuing onto Aqabat Al-Khanqa Street, the site of the Eighth Station is marked by a small “VIII” on the walls of the Greek Orthodox Monastery of St. Caralambos and commemorates Jesus addressing the women of Jerusalem.
